Training/Education
The Stockbridge Sportsmen’s Club hosts regularly scheduled firearm training courses which will qualify first-time applicants for either an FID or LTC in Massachusetts or for a Connecticut Resident or Non-Resident Pistol Permit. During the summer vacation months this course may be suspended if there is insufficient demand. Note that Massachusetts does not require live fire, but Connecticut does.
Occasionally we offer specialty courses such as Youth-Only or Women-Only Courses, the NRA Range Safety Officer Course, NRA Certified Instructor Courses, the Utah Concealed Firearm Permit Course and even the Multi-License Firearm Course (MA-CT-UT-FL-AZ-ME-NH), etc. These courses can be scheduled on an as-needed basis for appropriate sized groups.
We do not currently offer the Basic Hunter Education Course that is required to qualify for a hunting license in Massachusetts. Please refer to the Sporting Traditions page for a link to the Mass Wildlife Hunter Education course schedule. All such courses are scheduled by the State, not by the clubs that may host them.
In addition to the classes mentioned there may be periodic educational classes offered by GOAL that will be available to members.
Firearm course announcements will appear below when scheduled.
